The short answer is no. The process begins when you fill out our online form for a free quote. Once you have provided all the necessary information, you will get an estimate for shipping your ATV overseas. We will confirm by sending a price quote via email. Once you receive that, you can place your order and pay later. You don’t have to pay right away. In fact, you usually don’t have to pay us anything until the time of shipping.
If you have decided to deliver your ATV yourself to a terminal or to the port, we must receive payment in our office right after you have made the delivery. If you have requested a trucker to pick up your vehicle, you must make payment right after the vehicle has been picked up by the trucker. You can mail payment to our offices in San Diego, CA.
Payment can be made in the form of:
- Wire transfer
- Cashier’s check
- Credit card
- Personal check (in certain cases)
Import Duty
Keep in mind, import duty is NOT collected by Ship Overseas. You must pay it at the arrival port by whomever will be picking up the ATV. Oftentimes, customers want us to charge them duty fees for importing their ATV to the respective country. International car shipping companies, including Ship Overseas, do not provide this service. It is your responsibility as the owner to pay taxes once the car arrives to the destination country. You can call the Embassy in Washington, DC to find out what the duty fees are for a particular country.
Many international car shipping companies will provide you with an approximation of these import duties, but you should also get concrete rates from the embassy because they can and do change. Duty rates will vary depending on the size of the ATV.
Age Restrictions
While you’re talking to them, you may also want to ask your embassy if there are any vehicle age restrictions. Many countries have restrictions on their vehicle imports such as Australia, where you must be 20-25 years or older to import a vehicle such as an ATV.
