Offering weekly sailings from ports in the USA to Ghana

Our shipping vessels depart on a weekly basis from U.S. seaports to the port of Tema in Ghana. As for how it arrives there, this will depend heavily on your preferences, type of car, budget and more.

We are happy to be your go-to freight forwarder, shipping to the above port on a regular basis, using one of these two methods:

RoRo Shipping – RoRo ships are meant to transport wheeled cargo such as cars and motorcycles. This involves vehicles being driven onto the ship of their own power (consider it like a big parking garage ramp). This is the most affordable way to ship a car to Ghana.

Container Shipping – Your car is shipped inside a container with other cars to offset cost, if you select shared shipping;orit can travel solo in its own container if you prefer (you will pay more for this privilege).

Ship Your Car to Tema

Tema, a city perched on the Bight of Benin and Atlantic coast of Ghana, is located 16 miles east of the capital city; Accra. Tema happens to be the 11th most populous settlement in Ghana, home to 161,000 people and counting. Located in the southeastern part of Ghana, along the Gulf of Guinea, Tema is known locally as the “Harbour City” because it is Ghana’s largest seaport. This beautiful harbor serves as both a loading and unloading port for goods and as a major transit point for goods from land-locked countries to the north. We ship often to Tema, and we know all the requirements well.

Two Types of Shipping Methods

New to the international car shipping world? Not sure how best to get your car to Ghana? No worries. We’ll go over the advantages to each of these methods now.

RoRo Shipping (Roll On/Roll Off)

Due to its affordability and predictability, many of our clients select this option. It’s very popular because it’s the most affordable. RoRo is short for Roll On and Roll Off, which means (just like it sounds) the cars are driven onto and off of the ship of their own power. So, your car must be in sound working order to use this method.

If you have a wheeled vehicle, such as a car, motorcycle, motorhome, camper, trailer, bus, construction vehicle or boat, this method is the one to go with. It’s extremely efficient and cost-effective, featuring the most reliable departure and arrival dates. New car manufacturers love this method and trust it to ship their own vehicles overseas. All vehicles are protected against external elements, tied to the deck for security and getting little exposure to the ocean.

Container Shipping

Your other option is to choose shipping container to ship your car to Ghana, of which there are two more options: shared or exclusive container shipping.

Shared Container Shipping

This is the more affordable of the two, as the cost is offset over four vehicles in the same container.
However, there is a drawback to this method, and that is the fact that you will likely have to wait until the whole container is filled with other vehicles before it can be loaded onto the container ship and set sail. Unfortunately, there’s no way to know when the departure date will be for certain.

It’s not uncommon to find yourself waiting on standby an extra week until the container is filled with more cars.

That being said, you can ship additional items in the trunk or the backseat of your vehicle, which you can’t do with RoRo. You are also able to ship vehicles that are not in good working order, as the car is placed in the container rather than driven.

If you have two or more vehicles to ship to Ghana, or if you don’t care when the ship sets sail, this method is the best to choose.

Exclusive Container Shipping

Exclusive container shipping is more expensive but your car is the only one in the container. This option is perfect for transporting exotic, expensive or rare vehicles like Bentleys, Ferraris, Aston Martins, etc., giving you added protection and attention to detail. You’ll pay more for this than RoRo or Shared Container shipping, but if peace of mind is important to you, then go for this one.

• Each container holds a single vehicle.
• You can ship vehicles that do not work.
• You can include personal belongings along with your car.
