Many people pay high prices at car dealerships when they can find great deals from private sellers. One place a person can find awesome deals is on Craigslist. Craigslist is a website for local transactions happen and they normally occur in person using cash. You can buy cars through eBay Motors too, but this post is only for Craigslist. Go to Craigslist.org & select the city you are in. You can chose any city you want. In our example we are going to use San Diego, California. We will look for 2005 Honda Civic. If you do this search on Craigslist, you will get salvaged car titles. Most people don’t want salvaged cars, so put a minus sign in front of the word salvage as shown below. By doing this, the results will filter out any ads containing the word salvage. You can also filter results by putting in a price minimum and maximum. Another useful feature is to check “has image” box.
Some words of caution:
- If any people from Nigeria contact you, it’s a scam. Meet with people in person
- Get a CarFax for the vehicle.
- Sometimes a deal may sound too good to be true. Guess what, you will find these deals from people who have absolutely no idea what the value of their car is. But take caution because scammers always say they are out of town and you have to pay by Western Union. AGAIN, meet in person. No Western Union payments.
