US Military
We are authorized shippers for the US military to Qatar. We frequently work with members of the military and government to transport their cars to their new base. The military typically covers the cost of your shipment, unless you want to ship a second car (such as your spouse’s) too, but you will have to pay for that shipment.
POV Transfer Requirements for Military
- Please note, the vehicle you are shipping must:
- Have four wheels or more (exception: mopeds and motorcycles).
- Have written consent for transport from the third party if it’s a lease.
- Be owned or leased by a member of the military or a dependent.
- Be legal on public highways and self-propelled.

Optional Marine Insurance
This is optional but we highly recommend it. Accidents happen on the open sea that are beyond our control, particularly during hurricane season (June 1 through November 30). However, please note that damage and loss are very rare. You can choose to get our full coverage Marine Insurance against Loss or Damage, which lasts from the time your car is loaded onto the ship until you take possession of it. The cost is 1.75% of the value you want to insure the car for. This option is recommended if you wouldn’t be able to afford out of pocket cash for repairs or losses. Shipping Car to Qatar Military, Government Contractors
Members of the US Military and Government employees (or contractors) are allowed to ship a car overseas while carrying a lien on the car. However, they must secure prior authorization from the lender, as this is required to pass US Customs. The car could be considered stolen if this step is skipped.
US Military and Dependants
At the two Qatar ports, you will be charged a destination offloading fee of $300 USD for sedans and SUVs. (Prices can change, so call us for the latest.) To obtain a release of your vehicle, visit the Officer at your Base in charge of Transport. This person will also provide you with documents to complete for your Military Tags so you can then drive to your base. Once there, you will have to show your ID.
If you would like us to arrange the forwarding of your vehicle right to the base, request delivery service from us for an extra fee.
Government Contractors
Government contractors follow the same procedures as US military active-duty personnel.
Documents Required to Ship Car to Qatar
Shipping a car to Qatar from the USA will require you to bring the Original Title and an ID.
Vehicle Registration in Qatar
- Provide a Bill of Sale or a Notarized Bill of Sale, depending on the port the vehicle is sailing from.When purchasing a new vehicle, please provide an original Certificate of Origin from the Dealership that sold you the vehicle. This will allow it to pass Customs Clearance.
- No Sales Tax is payable to the Seller; proof of export will be given to the Seller if requested.
- If the vehicle is used or pre-owned, the existing Certificate of Title should be endorsed by the seller to the new owner.
Shipping Methods
We offer both RoRo shipping and container shipping to Qatar.
RoRo Shipping is available from these U.S. ports: Tacoma, WA; Port Hueneme, Ventura County; San Diego, CA; Baltimore MD; Jacksonville, FL; Freeport, TX.
RoRo (Roll On Roll Off)
RoRo is short for roll on, roll off. Basically, anything with tires that can Roll On and Off the ship of its own power can be loaded in this way. Able to accommodate vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, motorhomes, campers, trailers, buses, construction vehicles, and boats, most people use RoRo when shipping one vehicle. These ships look like one big parking garage on the inside, so your vehicle has to be able to go up and down the ramp with no assistance. Once loaded on the RoRo vessel, your vehicle will be tied down in a designated spot securely.
New car manufacturers prefer to use RoRo shipping due to the promise of additional protection against external elements. All vehicles are securely tied to the deck.
A highly efficient and cost-effective option, you get the most reliable departure and arrival dates with this method, with the precision of an airline flight schedule.
Container Shipping
Container Shipping is available from these U.S. ports: Houston, TX; Newark, NJ; and Long Beach, CA.
This method involves your car sharing a container with other vehicles. It’s not as fast as RoRo shipping because the containers don’t ship until they are full. However, if you have a car that does not work, this is the option you would choose.
Payment Methods / Options
You are responsible for payment upon the vehicle’s arrival at port.
Wire Transfer or Cashier’s Check
We will provide our bank information after you have placed your order. If you are outside the USA, this is the most common method of paying.
Credit Card & Zelle
There are no service fees with Zelle. There is a 3% service fee for credit card payments.
Canceling Your Order
If an order cancellation is necessary, email us as soon as possible. We will be happy to refund your payment with the same payment method you used, but you will have to pay a $300 cancellation fee.
- The destination handling charge is approximately $300.
- You must provide a clear Title of Ownership with no Liens on the Title.
- If you bought the car new, your name must be listed as the registered owner on the front of the Title.
- For safety and weight reasons, your vehicle should not have more than a ¼ tank of gas.
- If the vehicle has been sold, both the Seller and Buyer have to sign the back of the Title in the designated spaces.
USA Customs Clearance
Ship Overseas, Inc. will clear US Customs for you, with most US Customs agents just looking through the car’s window. Some will look inside the trunk though.
Who Can Pick Up The Vehicle in Qatar
Anyone you designate. Prior to the sailing date, let us know their name so we can list them as the Receiver or Consignee. They will have to show proof of identification with a picture ID, offering the Title of Ownership and a letter of permission. If the shipping line is notified of changes after your cargo has been loaded on the vessel, you will be charged a fee.
