RoRo Car Shipping to Italy

If you are shipping only shipping one car, RoRo (Roll on Roll Off) shipping is the most cost effective and safest way to ship a car to Italy. This method of shipping a car to Italy is simple. The car must be able to start on it’s own and drive up & down the ramp.

There is plenty of room for large sized vehicles. Once the car is aboard the ship, it is blocked and braced to the ship’s deck with straps. This is to prevent it from slipping and sliding while at sea. The only things allowed in the car are the jack and spare tire. Nothing else is permitted to be inside the car.

It is approximately 135€ to offload your vehicle if you are shipping by RoRo. It is to be paid at the arrival port.

There aren't any real drawbacks of using RoRo shipping other than there cannot be anything inside the car. If you need to ship personal belongings, check container shipping next.

Container Car Shipping to Italy

Use of this car shipping method if you are 1) shipping 2 or more cars or 2) shipping personal items inside your car. Since RoRo ships will not allow you to have anything inside the car, container shipping is the alternative method. You may load your personal belongings in boxes inside the car. There is a 150 pound weight limit. Make sure you pack everything very well because the ship will rock while out to sea.

Here is more info on personal belongings on container ships. You can either ship your car via full or shared containers. By filling out the QUOTE FORM, we will tell you what method is the best and least expensive. You can get a shared container whereby it will be shared with someone else or a full container which is exclusively for one person.

The only possible drawback when using a container is when it's shared. The shipping line will not send a shared container with only one car. While this doesn't happen often, it can create a shipping delay of a week.
