International Motorcycle Shipping

We Ship Motorcycles Overseas

As an international motorcycle shipping company based in the USA, shipping a motorcycle to another country is a breeze for us. We have been shipping motorcycles overseas for over 34 years! When you choose us as your international motorcycle shipper, you will get your motorcycle in the same condition as when you handed it over to us. In addition, we can pick up your motorcycle at your front door and ship it to any country (door-to-port). Alternatively, you can take the motorcycle to the departure shipping port yourself, and we will ship it to the destination port (port-to-port). You always have the option of having us pick up your motorcycle from any door in the USA, or you can save the money and take it to the shipping docks yourself. We ship:

  • Motorcycles, Sports Bikes, Vintage Bikes, Touring Bikes, & Trikes
  • Harley Davidson Bikes, Choppers, & Custom Built Bikes
  • ATVs & UTVs
  • Snowmobiles

Whether you are shipping a motorcycle or ATV, your vehicle will be handled safely.

We can pick up your motorcycle if you can’t bring it to the nearest departure shipping port. In addition, we handle all US Customs clearance. Our staff will walk you through the whole motorcycle shipping process. We ship motorcycles overseas with a breeze!

Remember, once you get your pricing in the email, you can place your order and pay later. You don’t have to pay right away.

Our shipping vessels depart on a weekly basis from U.S. seaports, and we offer several vehicle shipping methods and additional services, to meet all your overseas motorcycle shipping needs:

RoRo Shipping

RoRo ships are vessels built for shipping wheeled cargo, more specifically – shipping motor cars and motorcycles. The motorcycles are driven on to the ship almost like it was a parking garage. The name Roll-on/Roll-off comes from the fact that vehicles roll-on/roll-off the ramp, which is how they are driven on and off the ship.

Once loaded on the RoRo vessel, each motorcycle is strapped and secured to prevent movement while at sea. The metal protector under the motorcycle is locked into place with the ship’s deck to prevent slipping and sliding when out to sea, and the tires can’t move because they are securely embedded in the metal protector (as shown in the picture).

This shipping method has proved highly efficient and extremely cost-effective. It has an additional advantage: it provides reliable departure and arrival dates. The ship’s departure and arrival schedule runs almost like an airline flight schedule.

Shared Container Shipping

With this method, multiple motorcycles are loaded into a container at a warehouse. To leave the warehouse for departure, the container must be completely filled with motorcycles. This, in turn, doesn’t provide fixed departure dates like the RoRo method does.

However, shared container shipping has its advantages in terms of cost-effectiveness. Firstly, the shipping costs are split among the vehicles loaded into the container. Secondly, this method can sometimes be the only cost-effective method in departure or arrival ports where the RoRo method is not available.

All the motorcycles are strapped and secured to prevent movement while at sea. When the motorcycles are loaded on and unloaded from the container, they are normally moved one at a time using a forklift.

Enclosed Motorcycle Shipping

Ship Overseas, offers the convenience to transport your motorcycle to the port, if you are unable to drive your motorcycle to the port yourself. Having one company deal with both the transport to the port and the shipping is a good move, since you won’t have to deal with different agents. What’s more, Ship Overseas with a proven track record has the experience and practical know-how to handle all phases of your motorcycle shipping, including its transport to the port.

When we transport your motorcycle to the departure port, it is loaded onto a specially designed pallet and strapped securely with soft tie-downs to the pallet. It’s loaded into an enclosed air-ride truck.

Marine Insurance

Ship Overseas recommends that all shipments be insured for transit cargo insurance (marine insurance) on a first dollar basis for losses incurring in transit.

We offer FULL COVER Marine Insurance against Loss or Damage from the time your vehicle is loaded onto the Vessel for shipment at a rate of 1.75% of the value you wish to Insure for.

Important info to Ship a Car Overseas:
  • No car can leave USA if it has a lien on it. What does this mean? Your car must be paid in full. The only people who can ship a car overseas and still carry a lien on the car are US Military and Government employees/contractors. For those people a letter of authorization from the lender will need to be issued to pass US Customs. Otherwise the car may be considered stolen.
  • A clear Title of Ownership with no Liens on the Title.
  • If you bought a car new, then your name must be listed on the front of the Title as the registered owner.
  • If the vehicle has been sold, then both the Seller and Buyer have to sign the back of the Title in the spaces as detailed on the back of the Title.
  • For safety reasons, the vehicle cannot have more than a ¼ tank of gas.
Travel & Living Abroad:
  • Most countries will allow a traveler to temporarily import their car for up to 6 months. After the 6 months is up, import duty will be charged. For many travelers going to Europe and taking their car, a deposit is paid up front. When the car goes back to it’s destination country, the deposit is refunded. If a person has lived in USA for 1 or more years, most countries will allow that person to bring their car back duty free! The car must not have any liens on it. Please check with your Customs Department first.
Import Duty for Destination Country:
  • Import duty is NOT collected by Ship Overseas. It must be paid at the arrival port by whoever is picking up the car. We wrote a blog post about vehicle import duty here. It talks about how to find out import duty for your country.
