Can I Ship a Motorcycle to Italy From the USA?

The short answer is yes. Ship Overseas ships many wheeled vehicles, including motorcycles, to many countries all over the world. Italy is one of them. Specifically, our shipping vessels depart weekly from U.S. seaports to Italian ports of Civitavechhia, Livorno, Monfalcone, Naples, Palermo, Salerno, and Savona.

Types of Shipping

We offer the following shipping options when handling motorcycles to Italy:

RoRo Shipping: Motorcycles are driven onto the ship via a ramp, sort of like in a parking garage. The name Roll-on/Roll-off stems from the fact that vehicles can roll-on/roll-off the ramp of their own power.

Once on the vessel, your motorcycle will be strapped and secured to prevent movement while at sea. The metal protector under the motorcycle will lock into place to prevent slipping and sliding. The tires wonโ€™t move because they are secured to the metal protector.

RoRo is an efficient and cost-effective method of shipping, with reliable departure and arrival dates. In fact, the shipโ€™s departure and arrival schedule runs quite similarly to an airline flight schedule.

Shared Container Shipping: This is when multiple motorcycles are loaded into a container at a warehouse. Your motorcycle will be loaded in a container with other motorcycles owned by other people. To maximize cost and space efficiency, the container will not leave the warehouse or ship out until it is completely filled with motorcycles. This means this method is not conducive to reliable fixed departure dates like RoRo.

That being said, shared container shipping is very cost effective because the shipping costs are split among all vehicles loaded into the container. Your motorcycle is still safe, as it is strapped and secured to prevent movement while at sea. Unlike RoRo, the motorcycles are loaded and unloaded from the container, one at a time using a forklift.

Enclosed Motorcycle Shipping: If you are unable to drive your motorcycle to the port yourself, we will transport your motorcycle to the departure port for you. It will be loaded onto a pallet and strapped securely, loaded into an enclosed air-ride truck for the most protected ride possible.
