Container Shipping to Panama from USA

Shipping Containers Abroad

We ship containers. It’s what we do, and it’s what we pride ourselves in. We’ve been doing this for more than 25 years, so we know the ins and outs of shipping containers to Panama from the USA. Our shipping lines depart from all major ports with goods ranging from vehicles, food and beverages, to consumer and capital goods, plus industrial supplies and materials. Let us assist you in the process. It’s easy.

Here's how it works:

The first thing you do is fill out our quote form online. This is to inform us of the basics of your shipment: location of the goods, products being shipped, and the size of the necessary container, of which we have a few (see below). Once we have this quote form in hand, we can better assess how much it will cost you to ship your container to Panama. During this process, we will only authorize your credit card to ensure sufficient funds are in your account, but will not charge it yet. Upon credit card authorization, we will dispatch our truck driver who will bring along an empty container of your choosing to your location. After the container is filled up and sealed, our truck driver will then haul the container to the departure port for its trip on the open seas to Panama. Beforehand, you should prepare a bit by mailing the Original Bill of Sale, notarized, to our offices for Customs clearance, a copy of which should be provided to the truck driver. The driver will also get a dock receipt, which we will provide. Once all this paperwork is handled correctly, you can pay by credit card, check, or bank transfer. If you forget, don't worry because we have a checklist of steps that have to be followed; therefore, you will always be informed of what to do.

We told you it was simple. We handle everything, from preparation of the export compliance documents to shipment tracking (if needed). What’s left is for you to sit back and focus on managing the everyday aspects of your business. One way we can help you streamline your container shipping operations is to provide you or your prospective customers with important information on container shipping to Panama. We separate ourselves from the competition in our efforts to aid your business in efficient shipping of containers to Panama from the USA.

Looking to expand and streamline your exports and/or imports? Look no further than our company to help you with that endeavor.

Information For USA Based Companies -

If your company plans to ship a container to Panama, get all your ducks in a row first. This involves making sure you have obtained a license for exporting certain types of commodities/goods. When you fill out your quote form, we can better assess whether or not you need a license to export your product. As far as import duties go, these are to be paid by the importer (receiver) once the product arrives to Panama.

The governing body that enforces laws and regulations for all goods leaving the USA, also known as the United States Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), sometimes delegates authority to other government agencies when it comes to certain commodities or goods. In this vein, commodity licensing requirements are to be directed to that lead agency, such as in the case of a pharmaceutical company in the US shipping a container to Panama. This company will need to provide a license provided by the Drug Enforcement Administration Agency in order to export its prescription drugs.

Don’t know where to go next? Check out all the necessary agency information and phone numbers, along with listings of commodities/products which may require export licenses through U.S. Department of Commerce; Bureau of Industry and Security; Department of State; Directorate of Defense Trade Controls; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Drug Enforcement Administration; Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Office of Foreign Assets Control; or the Bureau of the Census websites. This is where you can uncover information from a variety of government agencies holding export control responsibilities. If you’re new to the international trade importing/exporting container scene, start here with your research: US Customs & Border Protection - Basic Importing and Exporting. If for any reason you need to find out the import duties for your customer in Panama, contact the Panama Embassy in Washington DC for the latest rates.

Those needing a quote to ship a container to Panama can simply fill in our easy quote form for pricing information. Using this information, we can also tell you if your exported shipment requires a permit or license. Let us know what you plan to ship after clicking the big green "Get Rates" button now.

Information for Panama Based Companies -

A license may be necessary if a Panama-based business is considering importing controlled goods. We strongly encourage any importer in Panama to contact the Customs Department to find out if they need a license and what import duties are going to be. So, if the company receiving goods in Panama does not boast proper knowledge of import duties and/or permits, this could pose a problem.

Shipping Container Measurements - 20ft, 40ft, 40ft HC

In our nearly three decades of container shipping experience, we’ve realized many companies question which size container to use, so we offer handy container dimensions here. It helps us at the time of issuing your quote whether you require a 20ft, 40ft, 40ft HC (High Container) container for your purposes. So be sure to include the size when filling out the form. You’ll see from the photo at right what the height difference is between a 40ft container and a 40ft HC. We have found that the most common container sizes our customers utilize are the 20ft container and the 40ft HC.

Marine Insurance - Protecting Your Product

There are benefits to marine Insurance, the main one being it will insure your shipment in case of damage or loss. This offers peace of mind because if your equipment is broken or lost in shipment, the person or company on the Bill of Lading is only entitled to $500 legally, according to COGSA (Carriage of Goods by Sea Act). If, for example, you plan to ship a $70,000 (USD) of electronic equipment, it’s worth paying a bit up front knowing you will be protected in the event damage does occur, even though it doesn’t happen often. The amount of marine insurance you will pay is reliant on the product’s value.

It is our strong suggestion you protect your shipments with marine insurance!
