Container Shipping to UK from USA

Shipping Containers Abroad

We ship containers to UK from USA. Our shipping lines depart from all major ports. With over 25 yrs experience shipping containers to UK, shipped goods range from Consumer Goods, Capital Goods, Foods Feeds & Beverages, Industrial Supplies & Materials, and Automotive Vehicles (Cars, Parts, and Engines).

Here's how it works:

Let us know the location of the goods, what you are shipping, and the size of the container. We will let you know how much it costs to ship a container to the UK. If you place an order, we will only authorize your credit card to make sure the funds are there. We will not charge it. Once the credit card is authorized, we will send our truck driver to the location with an empty container. The truck driver will wait while the goods are loaded. Once the container is loaded and sealed, the driver will go to the assigned departure port. The container is loaded onto a ship destined to the UK. The Original Bill of Sale must be notarized and sent to our offices to do a Customs clearance. A copy of the Bill of Sale must be given to the truck driver as well as a dock receipt (which we will give). Once this is done, payment can be made by credit card, check, or bank transfer.

Simple, right? We will provide the appropriate documents to meet export compliance standards and handle all your container shipping needs. Therefore, you can remain focused on your business operations. We strive to provide our prospective customers relevant information on container shipping to the UK. Information For USA Based Companies -

If your company is shipping a container to UK, sometimes a license will be required when exporting certain types of commodities/goods. If you are not quite sure a license is needed to export your product, we'll let you know once you fill out the quote form. In addition, import duties are to be paid by the importer (receiver) once the product arrives to the destination port.

The United States Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is the governing body responsible for enforcing laws and regulations for all goods exiting USA. Although the CBP is the one who enforces export rules and regulations, authority is delegated by them to other government agencies for certain commodities or goods. Commodity licensing requirements should be directed to that lead agency. For example, a pharmaceutical company in the US shipping a container to the UK will need a license to export its prescription drugs.

Agency information, phone numbers, and basic commodities/products which may require export licenses, can be obtained by viewing either the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security, Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Drug Enforcement Administration, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of Foreign Assets Control or the Bureau of the Census websites. All of these websites include information from numerous other government agencies with export control responsibilities.

For companies new to international trade importing/exporting containers, this is a great source to learn from: US Customs & Border Protection - Basic Importing and Exporting.

If you just need a quote to ship a container to UK, fill out the quote form and if your shipment requires a permit or license to be exported, we will let you know. Just click the big green "Get Rates" button and let us know what you are shipping.

Information For UK Based Companies -

If a UK based business is considering importing goods, they will need to check if a license is required. If importing controlled goods, make sure to get the right license because it is a criminal offense to import goods without the appropriate license. Check first by using this interactive tool (supplied by the UK Government) to find license and trade bodies for your business.

If the company receiving goods in the UK is not prepared with import duties and/or permits, barriers to entry may occur. For extensive information on UK import duties, taxes, tax rebates, reliefs, licenses and special conditions, use the UK Trade Tariff Tool HERE. Under "Search", just enter what you are shipping and the tool will tell you the import taxes. Please Note: If you are a USA based company, import duty is paid by the receiver at pickup in the UK.

Marine Insurance - Protecting Your Product

The quick benefit of Marine Insurance - If your equipment is broken or lost in shipment, then according to COGSA (Carriage of Goods by Sea Act), legally the person or company on the Bill of Lading is entitled to $500. So if you are shipping a $200,000 (USD) piece of equipment, INSURE your container shipment because if something goes wrong, a $500 entitlement will not help. Damages are rare, but the ship WILL rock while out to sea. Have you product packed safely especially fragile items that can break; like electronics. The amount of marine insurance depends on the stated value of the product. While marine insurance is optional, it is highly recommended to protect your assets.
