Shipping Containers Abroad

We are in the business of shipping containers. It’s about 50% of our business and we’re proud of the level of service we commit to this endeavor. With more than 25 years of experience under our belts, we feel confident that we can efficiently ship a container to Taiwan from the USA for you. This is because we boast shipping lines departing from all major USA ports, transporting a variety of goods, from automotive vehicles, food and beverages, consumer and capital goods. We also have experience with shipping goods like industrial supplies and materials, and many more.

Here's how it works:

You may wonder how the process begins. First, you fill out our quote form on the website. This will inform us of three main things that we can better base your price on: pickup location of the goods, products being shipped, and the size of the necessary container (see below for varieties). Once we obtain this information from you, we will authorize your credit card to check that the necessary funds are there. Don’t worry, we don’t actually charge the card until a later date. Once that comes back OK, we send our trusted truck driver who brings an empty container of the appropriate size your site. The container is loaded and sealed and gets transported to the departure port where it will be loaded for its journey to Taiwan. Beforehand, help us by mailing the Original Bill of Sale, notarized, to our offices to clear Customs, then a copy will be provided to the truck driver. The driver will also receive a dock receipt, which we will give. Once all the paperwork has been dealt with, you can pay at this time by credit card, check, or bank transfer. Don't worry if you can't remember this, we have a checklist of things that are needed so we will tell you exactly what to do to make the whole container shipping process efficient.

Trust us to handle everything, from preparation of the export compliance documents to shipment tracking to logistics. This way, you can have more time to tend to what’s really important: cultivating your business. This is just how we help you streamline your shipping container operations, by providing prospective customers with important information on container shipping to Taiwan. We offer convenient quote forms online to apprise you of cost and licensing guidelines, leading to more efficient container shipping to Taiwan from the USA.

Companies struggling with streamlining their exports and imports can enlist our help to strengthen the logistics portion of your business.

Information For USA Based Companies -

Companies in the market for shipping containers to Taiwan from USA must be sure to acquire the right license for exporting certain types of commodities/goods. We can better assess whether or not you need a license once you submit your quote form. We also offer helpful reminders. For example, import duties are to be paid by the importer (receiver), not the exporter, once the product arrives at port.

The governing body that enforces laws and regulations for all goods leaving the USA – the United States Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) – may bestow authority onto other government agencies in regards to certain types of commodities or goods. In this event, commodity licensing requirements are to be directed to the lead agency. For example, a pharmaceutical company in the USA shipping a container to Taiwan would need to contact the Drug Enforcement Administration, the lead agency that assigns this type of license, in order to export prescription drugs.

If you’re unsure of what to do next, again, we can help you in this endeavor. We have provided a helpful list of websites where you can find relevant agency information and phone numbers, along with listings of commodities/products which may require export licenses. Check these out to also uncover information from a variety of government agencies boasting export control responsibilities: U.S. Department of Commerce (the most common); Bureau of Industry and Security; Department of State; Directorate of Defense Trade Controls; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Drug Enforcement Administration; Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Office of Foreign Assets Control; or the Bureau of the Census. Information for Taiwan Based Companies -

If you are looking for Taiwanese Import Duty Rates, please visit the Directorate General of Customs - Taiwan.

In addition, a license may be necessary in the event a Taiwan based business imports controlled goods, evident by the types of goods it’s dealing with. Failure to secure a license in certain cases could become a criminal offense. The receiving company in Taiwan should know the ins and outs of import duties and/or permits, or this could cause holdups at point of entry. USA-based companies are not responsible for import duties; instead, receiving companies pay these fees.

Shipping Container Measurements - 20ft, 40ft, 40ft HC

It’s entirely possible that a business is unsure of the right container size for shipment. We can guide you in this process, providing detailed container dimensions here. Because it helps us at the time of issuing your quote whether you require a 20ft, 40ft, or 40ft HC (High Container) container, you must include this information on our quote form for accurate pricing. Your price tag will depend on the size you choose. The height difference between a 40ft container and a 40ft HC is illustrated to the right hand side. Every company’s requirements are different, but just an FYI, the most common container sizes we provide for our customers are the 20ft container and the 40ft HC.

Marine Insurance - Protecting Your Product

Of the many benefits to marine insurance, the main one is to insure your container shipment in case of damage or loss, which could get costly. As you’ll see by reading up on COGSA (Carriage of Goods by Sea Act), if your equipment is broken or lost in shipment, the person or company on the Bill of Lading is entitled to $500 legally. A $500 entitlement on damaged equipment valued at $50,000 (USD) is absurd. So, you may want to strongly consider signing up for the optional marine insurance. And, because the ship rocks and rolls at sea, further protect your investments by safely packing them in the container before loading. The amount of marine insurance you pay is dependent on the type of good you’re shipping and its stated value.

Consider getting the marine insurance to protect your investments in the event of damage or loss.
