There are 2 main ways to ship a car to Saudi Arabia:
1) Shipping Car to Saudi Arabia on a RoRo (Roll on Roll Off) Ship
Use the RoRo shipping method if one or two cars need to be shipped. Most of the cars being shipped to Saudi Arabia from the USA are shipped inside a RoRo vessel under the deck of the ship not exposed to the elements. It is a very safe way to ship a car. The car must be in good mechanical condition with no starting or running problems, In addition, it must be able to drive up and down the ramp for loading and unloading purposes. Once the car is aboard the RoRo ship, it is blocked and braced to the ship's deck to prevent it from moving. When shipping a car to Saudi Arabia on a RoRo ship, no items can be inside the car apart from the spare tire and the tools belonging to the car; like the jack. This is a requirement for all our RoRo ships.
2) Shipping Car to Saudi Arabia in Containers
The container shipping method is an excellent way to ship a car if you are moving to Saudi Arabia. You can get a shared or exclusive container and put your belongings inside the container or you can place your belongings inside the car. An itemized packing list of goods and values will be needed. One drawback is the delivery time can be slow because the containers have to be filled before shipping.
Since the container will be lifted on & off the cargo ship using a crane, make sure your belongings are packed well as movement may occur. The car will be fine, but if you are shipping household items, just package them with a lot of care.

Shipping car to Saudi Arabia (Jeddah or Dammam) from the USA
1) An Original clear Title of Ownership signed over to the receiver is required + Dock receipt is required at the departure port in the USA.2) Vehicle Age Restrictions for Saudi Arabia - No cars older than 5 years are permitted. No trucks older than 10 years are permitted. No high & heavy (H/H) vehicles, like Caterpillar construction vehicles or Mac Trucks, over 10 years are permitted.
3) No Salvage Titles or Accident damaged vehicles allowed.
4) For RoRo shipments the vehicle must be in good mechanical condition with NO starting or running problems. NO goods are permitted in the vehicle.
5) The customs duty rate is calculated at 5% on the vehicle's value and 12% for trucks subject to change. Contact the Saudi Arabian Embassy through their website to find out the latest import rates or call them in Washington, DC.
