Shipping a Car to France from USA

We are an International Car Shipping Company based in the USA. We have been shipping cars to France since 1987. There are 2 main ways to ship a car to France from USA which will be described below, but before we get to discussing that, the car needs to get to one of the departure ports. We have several shipping lines located on the East and West Coast United States where a car can be shipped from. If a person is far from one of these international car shipping departure ports, then we can arrange a car transporter to meet with the owner (or the designated person) and we'll take your car. Shipping a car to France is simple.

Important: Our competitors cannot compete with our pricing because of our relationship with the US Military. Take advantage of our low pricing on our shipping line which is destined for France & Germany.

2) Container Shipping

Container Shipping to France There are many benefits of using a container ship to transport your car from USA to France. This method is great if you are shipping:

- Shipping multiple cars
- Need to ship a car and your belongings
- Need a shared or exclusive container

Shared Container - Load items inside a vehicle. Many international students use a shared container since they don't have to ship large objects.

Full (Exclusive) Container - If a person is moving and needs to ship a car along with large household items, renting a full container would be the logical choice of shipping.

By using the container shipping method, your car will be lifted on and off the ship. There are many uses for container ships. We specialize in shipping cars. Once the car is in the container, it will be blocked and braced to keep it from moving while out to sea. Here is more detailed information for container car shipping. We offer Marine Insurance to cover any loss or damage to your vehicle. Here is a lot more information on Marine Insurance to help protect you.

Note from Ship Overseas, Inc: Please Note: France's laws have changed a few times over the last 5 years. Please fill out the get rates (green button) and we'll send you the latest information along with the shipping costs. Contact the French Embassy in Washington DC for the latest import tax information.

Foreign made vehicles imported into France (i.e. non-European Community), whether new or used, attract Customs duties & are liable to value added tax (VAT) at the uniform applicable rate of 19.6%. However, if the vehicle has been owned by the EU Citizen for more than one year and can that person can prove being out of France for one year or more, he/she will not be subject to these taxes. Classic Cars (25 years or older) will only attract an " Old Timers " duty of 5.5%. These laws are subject to change without notice.

If you haven't purchased your car, but need Ship Overseas to help buying it for you, learn about our Vehicle Purchase Assistance Program. We will take the "scary" out of buying a vehicle over the internet.
