Shipping Car to Ghana from USA

We have been shipping cars to Ghana for over 19 years. For us, shipping a car to Ghana from USA is a routine process. For you to receive a price, all we need is the year, make, model of the car. In most cases once you request a quote, we immediately respond with the price within 1 hour. There are various departure ports in the USA we use to ship a car to Ghana. Cars can be shipped using the Roll On Roll Off or Container shipping method. By default we will send your car using the cheapest car shipping method. Using a Roll On Roll Off ship is far more popular because it is normally cheaper and the arrival time is usually quicker. If your car is not close to one of the departure ports, then we can pick up it up and bring it to the port for you. We will include the trucking price in your quote so you can decide if it makes financial sense for us to pick up your car or if you want to take the car to the port yourself. You always have the option to bring the car to the departure port or have us pick it up for you if you wish.

If you choose the optional trucking service to the departure port, we will need to pick up your car and take it to the port for you. To do this, we will need to arrange one of our transport truckers to meet with you (or the designated person) at the place where you want the car picked up from. This provides a great car shipping experience for customers because your car is trucked to the port at very reasonable rates. Roll on Roll off (RoRo) Car Shipping

The picture on the left is of a RoRo ship. All our RoRo ships require that the vehicle is able to drive up and down the ramp. There is no lifting of the vehicle as in container shipping (below). This means the car must be able to function properly and make it up the ramp without problems. RoRo shipping is very easy for many Ghanians because the cars arrive in Tema. Once the car is aboard the ship, it will be strapped to the deck of the ship to keep it from shifting around while sailing across the ocean. Absolutely nothing is permitted to be inside the vehicle. Many people buy cars over the internet and ship them to Ghana. Other people have a family member ship their old vehicle to Ghana for them. The RoRo ship will arrive in the Tema shipping port as shown below on Google Maps. Go ahead and click the map and zoom in to see where it will arrive. RoRo car shipping is by far the least expensive way to ship a car from USA to Ghana.

Container Car Shipments

You can ship you car to Ghana in an exclusive or shared container. With an exclusive container, your cars are the only ones packed in the container. In a shared container shipment, you share the container with other cars that are being shipped from the same port to Ghana.

Container shipments are not available from all of the USA ports.

Container shipments are available whereby you may load personal goods in the car that you are shipping. This is always more expensive than Roll on Roll off shipping. If you pack personal goods in your car, then you will need to submit a packing list of the goods. The packing list must itemize the goods by category and must include values. As with Roll on Roll of shipments, we will need a clear Title of Ownership with no liens on the Title.

Use RoRo shipping if you are shipping one car. Use Container shipping if you are shipping 2 cars or if you are sending additional items inside your car.

For Roll on Roll off & Container shipments to Ghana you will need:

  • - A clear Title of Ownership with no Liens on the Title
  • - If you bought a car new, then your name must be listed on the front of the Title as the registered owner. If the vehicle has been sold, then both the Seller and Buyer have to sign the back of the Title in the spaces as detailed on the back of the Title. This is a requirement for US Customs to be able to export the car.
  • - The car must run, drive and have brakes to be shipped on Roll on Roll off. No goods are permitted in the vehicle except the jack, spare tire and tools that came with the car when it was new.
  • - Destination clearing agents are provided to assist the customer in clearing & registering the car in Ghana. For safety reasons, the vehicle cannot have more than a ¼ tank of gas.
  • - If the car does not run, drive, brake or if there are goods packed in the vehicle, then it will have to be shipped in a container.
